Join the Narragansett 20s/30s on a hike to celebrate the lengthening days with the start of Daylight Savings Time (DST)! Walk off the drowsiness of losing an hour of sleep with a hike around Francis Carter Preserve. Francis Carter offers wide expanses of meadows where we can view the waxing full Worm moon on what will hopefully be a cloudless sky. Plan to hike roughly 3 miles over some moderate terrain of roots and rocks, with light elevation. Participants should expect to wear boots that can handle mud or maybe some snow, and possible standing water on the trail. Evening temperatures have ranged between 15 and 25 degrees, so participants should be prepared to dress appropriately for the cold weather.
Participants should also bring a headlamp or flashlight for twilight in the trees. The intent is not to be on the trail after dark, but visibility will drop when the trail enters the woods.
Afterwards, participants are welcome to gather at the Charlestown Rathskeller. Parking and meeting instructions will be sent to confirmed participants in advance.
