Description: Join the Narragansett young members on a hike through Arcadia Management area to catch the sunrise from the viewpoint on Mt. Tom! Sunrise on 10 January is around 7:15 in the morning, participants should plan on having to wait roughly 15-20 minutes in the cold and should bring enough layers to ensure adequate warmth. After roughly a mile hike to the viewpoint and witnessing sunrise, participants will continue to hike for a total mileage of roughly 5 miles and ~300 ft of elevation.

What to bring:

  • fluorescent orange (required by law)
  • warm layers for waiting in the cold
  • something to put on the ground to keep you from any snow/frozen surfaces
  • something hot to drink
  • headlamp (phone lights do not count!)
  • 1 liter water in insulated container
  • snacks as necessary that do not freeze
  • microspikes MAY be necessary for this hike depending on conditions

Afterwards, participants are welcome to gather at the Middle of Nowhere Diner for a late breakfast. Parking and meeting details will be sent to confirmed participants. All confirmed participants can expect an email at least a day in advance with weather forecast and final list of items to bring.
