Description: Join the Narragansett 20s & 30s on a three-day car camping trip by AMC’s 100 Mile Wilderness region in Maine! The 100 Mile Wilderness is a 100-mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail that's well-known for being challenging and remote. During the day, you'll have the opportunity to embark on some safe day hikes in a choose your own adventure style, and at night we'll be car camping nearby at a popular site with running water, showers, and potentially, hot meals. No official AMC hikes will be run as part of this camping event, but participants are free to connect with each other and explore the surrounding area.
This car camping trip immediately follows a separate 20s/30s car camping trip to Acadia National Park approximately 2.5 hours south of the 100 Mile Wilderness. We're expecting that some people will want to attend both camping trips, and Acadia campsites for the month of August have to be booked in February, so we're gauging interest in both of these events now. Once we have a headcount for this 100 Mile Wilderness trip and have booked sites for the Acadia trip, we will plan and secure a specific campsite in the 100 Mile Wilderness.
We are hoping to finalize the group list for both this trip and the Acadia trip by the end of January 2026. Registration will remain open until a few days before the event in August in case registered participants are unable to attend or additional campsites become available; however, we cannot guarantee a spot for anyone who signs up after January 31, 2026 .
Cost Participants can expect to pay between $30 and $60 for the entire weekend’s campsite registration fees. This cost does not include food. Participants are responsible for providing their own food. Please see the “What to Eat” and “What to Bring” sections below.

  • Participants will be expected to pay trip leaders for the above cost of the campsite sometime in February after they’ve been confirmed for the trip and before the leaders book them a campsite. Payment can be sent via Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal.
Participant Requirements All participants must be approved by the trip leaders. Participants must have attended at least one Narragansett Chapter AMC 20s & 30s camping weekend trip so that leaders may gauge readiness for this trip. Participants should understand that the primary forms of entertainment will be hiking and other outdoor activities and should have the physical ability to participate. Leaders reserve the right to request that participants attend additional AMC events prior to approval and also reserve the right to reject participants.
What to Eat Participants are expected to bring their own food and snacks for all meals. While it's possible that our campsite will offer meals, we cannot guarantee that it will, and either way, we plan to eat primarily around the campfire. The 100 Mile Wilderness is not particularly close to stores and restaurants, so please plan accordingly.
