Description: Join the AMC 20s & 30s on a hike at the Cumberland Monastery. As the name suggests, the area we'll be hiking used to be home to an abbey. After the abbey was damaged in a fire in the 1950s, the town of Cumberland purchased the property and eventually opened the adjacent land for recreation. We'll be walking on this old monastery land at a rapid pace for approximately three miles, passing an old quarry, stone walls, unused granite slabs, and beautiful woods.
Participants are required to bring: Water Snacks as needed Ski/ride/rain pants (recommended to keep snow out of boots) Waterproof boots Microspikes/exospikes/some traction device for snowy conditions Weather appropriate layers Blaze orange
After the hike, participants are invited to join us for an optional lunch at a restaurant nearby.
Registered participants will be sent additional details about the hike, including meetup location, the day before the event.
