Description: Trail Description: The Seven Sisters Trail is a 5.4-mile hike with 1,500 feet of elevation gain that follows the ridgeline of the Mount Holyoke Range. During this point-to-point hike, we will encounter numerous scrambles, steep ascents, and descents—a roller-coaster effect that continues throughout the entire route as we traverse the range's many peaks. The terrain is rocky, with loose basalt clasts and plenty of roots to navigate. Throughout the hike, we will be rewarded with numerous scenic vistas, including views from Mount Holyoke, the Summit House at Skinner State Park, Mount Hitchcock, and Bear Mountain. Hike Description: This hike aims to strike a balance between exercise and social connection. Be prepared to maintain a brisk pace with few stops. Expect a physically demanding hike as we tackle elevation gains and move quickly on descents. Our goals are to have fun, connect with one another and enjoy the outdoors as we challenge ourselves along the way. What to Bring: Please bring with you 2 liters of water, snacks to eat, a backpack to carry your things in and a pair of sturdy shoes with good grip. Consider bringing sunscreen, bugspray and electrolytes. Please check the weather on the day of hike and dress accordingly in layers. Additional Info: An email will be sent a day or two before the hike containing parking info, the rendezvous and any important updates. We will hike rain or shine, and may alter route or cancel hike if weather becomes severe. Hike Leader: Dan views the outdoors as a space for both recreation and deep reflection. His hikes integrate mindfulness with physical activity, helping participants cultivate a deeper awareness of the present moment. Dan enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, exploring new trails, and just about any outdoor adventure. Shuttle: For this point-to-point hike, we will need to coordinate a shuttle. This will be arranged at the trailhead where we will all meet and where the hike will end. In addition to hike leader driving, we will need 1–2 more vehicles to help shuttle hikers to the starting trailhead. After we finish the hike, different drivers will also need to help drop off fellow hikers so they can retrieve their vehicles at the starting trailhead. The time required for the round-trip shuttle has been factored into the estimated event duration.
