Description: Join the 20s/30s group on a rewarding but slightly challenging hike to Pulpit Rock and Pinnacle Rock. This 9-mile loop is a perfect opportunity to meet new friends, explore new places, and see amazing views of the Lehigh Valley!

The first 3 miles are steep and rocky, with an elevation gain of about 1000ft to reach Pulpit Rock Overlook. We will follow the ridge for about a mile and a half until reaching The Pinnacle Overlook. This is where we will take in the views and have a lunch break. The remaining miles will be mainly downhill as we head back to the cars. There will be about 1200 ft of elevation gain.

We will meet at 10 am at Pinnacle Trailhead (40.583290,-75.941840). Please arrive a few minutes early so we can hit the trails at 10 am. If you need to get in contact with the leader, please contact Alyssa at (570)899-0147.

Please bring plenty of water, lots of snacks, and a packed lunch, which we will be having on the trail. This trail will be rocky and rooty. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat are recommended, as well as sturdy hiking boots and poles if you like to use them. Extreme heat will cancel the hike.

If you're feeling hungry after all the hiking, we can head over to the Westy Bar and Grill (40.551884,-75.994802), located about 15 minutes from the trailhead.

Description: Join the 20s/30s group for a fun-filled day at Knoebels Amusement Resort, America's largest free-admission amusement park. This popular Pennsylvania destination is located in the Susquehanna River Valley in Elysburg, PA. The amusement park is nearly 100 years old and features more than 100 rides/attractions.

Here’s how it works. There is no admission to the park, so you pay for rides by purchasing a Ticket Book or an unlimited-ride All Day Pass. There are 38 dining options, so you can stop for food and drinks whenever you want. The park does allow outside food and drinks if you prefer to bring your own.

Depending on where you live, you are likely 1-3 hours from the park. Put the park address - 391 Knoebels Blvd, Elysburg, PA 17824 - in your GPS to check. This can be a great carpooling outing; we can sort out transportation after people sign up.

The park is open from 12 pm to 6 pm. We will meet at 12:30 pm at the intersection of Knoebels Rd and Knoebels Pkwy (40.879696,-76.501164). We will stay in the park until 6 pm.
Knoebels offers free parking, but please note where you are parked so you can easily find your car when we leave. The lot is very large, and a lost car is never fun.

Description: Join the 20s/30s group on a challenging but rewarding hike at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. A perfect opportunity to meet new friends, explore new places, and see some raptors during migration!

Founded in 1934, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is the oldest and largest member-supported raptor conservation organisation in the world and is a landmark in the American conservation movement.

We will meet outside the Hawk Mountain Visitor Center (bathrooms are available in the visitor center). Please arrive a few minutes early so we are able to hit the trails at 10 am. Hawk Mountain is a member-supported organization, so there will be an entrance fee of $10 that each of us will need to pay before we start our hike. Please try to show up a few minutes early so we can get inside and pay.

This hike will be challenging at times, but the views will be worth the effort. We will start our hike at the visitor center and make our way down about 840ft to a boulder field on the River of Rocks Trail. What goes down must come up. Every hiker loves that saying, right? We will then climb 840ft back up on the Golden Eagle Trail. This hill is steep, so we will take breaks when needed and go at a moderate pace. Once we make it to the top, the real fun begins.

We will follow the Skyline trail over to the East Rocks. Here we will have magnificent views of the valley below. After taking in the views, we will head to the rock scramble section of the hike. The scramble section will require your full attention. It is fairly short, but very steep. After reaching the North lookout, there are about 2 miles to the visitor center.

Description: Worlds End State Park is a 780-acre public recreation area nestled in a narrow, S-shaped valley along the Loyalsock Creek in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. It’s known for its breathtaking views of the Endless Mountains and the Loyalsock Creek. Be ready for some beautiful views!
We will all be at one group campsite. A $12 contribution to the cost of the camp site is included in the registration.
We’ll arrive Friday afternoon to set up camp, do a gear check, and review our weekend activities.
We’ll have a variety of activity options, including hikes, frisbee/games, knowledge/skill sharing. We’ll be joined by Larry Priori, who is one of AMCDV’s most seasoned campers, as well as the chapter’s wilderness first aid instructor.
A taste of possible hikes: 3.6 mile loop, 731 ft elevation gain 8.55 miles, 1,600 ft elevation gain 7.1 miles, 1,000 ft elevation gain Possible knowledge/skill sharing examples include: Tarp and bivy shelter Fire starting Water filtration and purification Compass and Map reading First Aid Common and Critical issues Specific trip planning and required gear lists will be accessible in our 20s/30s Whats App Trip Planning group, including: Gear sharing spreadsheet Food recommendations/list and accommodations Final hike options/plans Carpooling Campsite and other trip logistics A pre-trip equipment/food readiness check will be required. If you or the leader determine that you are not prepared for this trip, AMC will refund your contribution to the campsite.

Extreme weather will cancel. Leader will notify you by noon if the trip plans change.
