20s-30s Hike: 5.5 -Mile Tohickon Valley Loop w/ High Cliffs and Ice Cream Finale

612-acre Tohickon Valley Park is in Bucks County, just outside of Pipersville, PA and close to the New Jersey border. It offers hiking, fishing, camping and picnicking options. Our 5.5-mile hike will be on dirt paths - often with roots and rocks - and will include hilly terrain, with a total elevation gain of about 700 ft.

Our hike begins at the parking lot at 127 Caffrey Rd., Pipersville, PA, 18947. As we hike, we will go through a campsite and forest until we descend and walk along the Tohickon Creek. We will then walk above High Cliffs, rocks which are popular with climbing enthusiasts because of their challenging vertical cliffs. The outbound hike ends just outside the park in a picnic area where you can eat a lunch you have brought. We will then return to the parking lot by following a partially different route. When we reach our cars, the leaders will break out ice cream and popsicles so you can hang out and cool down.

The trails may be muddy after a rain, so wear sturdy walking shoes or boots. This is a fairly strenuous hike, so sandals are not recommended. Bring a hiking pole if you want additional support. Layer clothing according to the temperatures, and be prepared with a snack and lunch.
