Batsto River Kayaking in the Pine Barrens

Details

Come join a fun and scenic paddle in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. This trip is good for all levels of paddling ability and is being run with an outfitter so that rental kayaks will be available.
The Batsto River is a narrow, winding river with clean cool water and small areas to pull out for a break and a nice sandy beach stop for lunch. We will paddle past cedars, savanna grasses and bogs on our way. The last half mile will be across Batsto Lake where the river opens up and is covered by grasses, lily pads, and other flora.
After registering with AMC, you will be sent a link to pay for the rental kayak or for just using your own boat (BYO). Transportation to the river put-in and back from the take-out are included. If you are bringing a guest, they need to register independently with AMC to sign the waiver for themselves.
Our outfitter will bring us to the put-in and will pick us up at the end. Use your own kayak or rent one. The charge with a rental kayak and transportation will be $55 (plus taxes and fees). If you are bringing your own kayak (No tandems please) , the charge is $35. Prices have slightly varied due to state tax and the $2 Wharton State Forest fee. A BYO kayak ends up being $41.60 with taxes and fees. Rental kayaks include a PFD and paddle.
You must register for this trip on Meetup first and then sign the waiver with this AMC site link:

Any Meetup guest must also sign up on the AMC site on their own. Once you sign the waiver, we will send you the link to pay for your kayak rental or transport if you are using your own kayak.
On the river, wearing your PFD is required. Inflatable PFD's and inflatable kayaks are not allowed. Dress in quick drying clothes or a swimsuit. No cotton please. Wear water shoes that can get wet and protect your feet. No flip-flops please.
Sorry, due to the put-in location, there is no private shuttle option.
Our group size is limited. There will be an optional post paddle gathering that we hope you can attend.
