Description: Join us for a 6.5 mile loop hike in beautiful Tyler Sate Park. Tyler State Park in Bucks County, is a 1,711 acre park established in 1964 featuring over 23 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, with Neshaminy creek flowing through it. Originally home to several farms the park has a mix of forests and rolling farm fields. As we hike we will see several picturesque old barns from those farms, along with the historic Schofield Ford covered Bridge. We will also have several views of Neshaminy creek as it winds though the park.
We will be on a mix of paved paths and dirt hiking trails which are uneven and steep in short sections. There are also some downed trees in portions of the dirt trails to navigate over or around. Please wear sturdy walking or hiking shoes with good grip as there are some of the steep sections. If it has rained, the trails on the could be very muddy. If it has snowed, the trails may be icy, and Microspikes or other footwear traction and at least one hiking pole will be required. We will be doing 6.5 miles with about 700 feet of elevation gain with an option to add an additional mile loop at the end. Bring water and snacks. Hike may be canceled due to inclement weather. Hike leader will contact you the day of for cancellation.
Join us afterwards for optional lunch at the Newtown Farmers market, with a fun variety of food vendors including a deli, sushi, and Amish food.
