Description: Join other 20s/30s for a brisk but casual 4.5 mile loop through the Wissahickon ending with a stop for famous Dallesandro’s cheesesteaks (or cheese hoagies! Or BYO). If you are in your 20’s or 30’s, this event has been especially designed for you! Expect the hike to take about 1.5-2 hours, with an extra hour or so for a leisurely lunch and social time.

We will meet at the corner of Roxborough Ave and Magdalena Street. This starting point should afford easy street parking as well as bus accessibility. We’ll be able to enter the Wissahickon Park on the Yellow Trail by way of Boyce Athletic Field. We’ll follow the Yellow Trail for about 1.5 miles and then head down to Forbidden Drive for about half a mile before heading into the woods to seek Gorga’s Creek Cave . Following our footsteps back along Forbidden Drive, we’ll cross the Wissahickon Creek and start on the Orange Trail, eventually dropping down to Forbidden Drive and crossing the Historic Blue Stone Bridge. We’ll find the Yellow Trail and follow it back to our starting point. From there, it’s just a few blocks to Dallesandro’s. Everyone can buy their food (or grab their brown bags) and meet back up to chow down. There is no indoor seating but there are picnic tables nearby.

Plan for some ups and downs as well as mud; Expect about 400 of elevation. Hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes are a must. Dress in layers to accommodate colds temps in the beginning and end while allowing for lighter layers as we burn our pre-lunch calories. Bring at least a liter of water (more for lunch) and snacks for the walk. Any rain or snow (beyond the lightest drizzle or dusting) cancels.

Please note: In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or a legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania. (11)
