Description: If you are in your 20s/30s, you're gonna love this event! It's on Easter weekend and, in my opinion, is a great opportunity to hunt down some Easter eggs with some of your peers.

Most of our adventure will take place in the Pickering Creek Preserve, home of the Pickering Creek, which was once dammed to create a pond where ice was harvested until 1917. Although the dam is long gone, the Pickering Creek remains a popular spot for fishermen.

This is a double-loop hike that begins in a residential neighborhood: the Jeffords Ct. parking lot of the Charlestown Hunt development off Rte. 29. We will pick up the trail head a few steps from the parking lot on the mostly-wooded peremiter trail that encircles the Charlestown Hunt neighborhood. After a mile+, we will turn onto the spur trail that leads to the Pickering Creek Preserve. Our wooded hike will hug the creek until we loop around on Charlestown Rd to return via Pickering Creek Dam Rd., an infrequently traveled road with old farmhouses and the occasional ruin.

This 4.8 mile hike has about 500 ft of elevation, spread out in the wooded areas of the hike. We will be on flat, paved roads for about 1/2 mile. There will be 14 eggs spread out throughout the hike; I'll be giving hints when we approach an egg so everyone has a shot at finding it. After all the eggs have been found and we are back at the parking lot, we will head over to the nearby Wegmans where we can take over a table with our bagged lunches or buy food/beverage at the store.

Wear sturdy hiking or walking shoes and bring water, snacks (and lunch if you desire). If it has rained, the trails may be muddy.

Because we are parking in a private parking lot, the hike is limited to 10 participants.

Rain or other bad weather will cancel the hike. Check at about 8am if you are in doubt about the status of the hike.

This trip is intended to be a 20s/30s affinity trip. Participation is limited to those who identify with this age group. If you have any questions about eligibility or the nature of this trip, please contact the trip leader by email for more information.

Please note: In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania.
