Description: Ricketts Glen State Park is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania. This large park encompasses 13,193 acres in Luzerne, Sullivan, and Columbia counties. Join the 20s/30s for a whimsical hike around some of the best waterfalls on the East Coast!

This loop will take us around the 22 named waterfalls of the glen, as we hike through some pretty incredible stone features and swathes of old-growth forest.
The hike is 6.3 miles in total length with about 1,040 feet of total elevation gain. The first mile takes us along the Kitchen Creek, before the elevation picks up a bit into mile-2 and 3 with a mix of slopes and stone steps.

The trail gets a bit steep and a bit narrow in some places, so this may not be the most suitable for beginners. Some of the steps and switchbacks can get a little slippery, so we strongly recommend bringing hiking poles (we will have a few spare poles). The elevation peaks about halfway through the hike, through a forest of pines, hemlocks, and massive stone boulders.

Please dress appropriately for the weather on the day, bringing layers, a hat, sunscreen, bug repellent, etc. Part of the trail close to the creek bank may be a little muddy, so wear sturdy shoes you do not mind potentially getting dirty.

Pack snacks, a lunch, and plenty of water that you can enjoy along the trail. (We plan to stop and take lunch halfway through the hike, so please bring a packed lunch.)

Heavy rain or extreme heat will cancel the hike.
Registered participants will be notified by 7 am on the day of the hike if a cancellation is necessary.

We will meet at the covered picnic tables just behind the restrooms in the lot off of rt 118 (41.300340998207446, -76.27307509356635). The lot can fill up fast on the weekend, so please plan accordingly (t here will be bathrooms at the trail head).

We’ll be having a post-hike social at the Crooked Creek bar & grill just down the road, an opportunity to cool off after the long hike.

This hike is being led by Alyssa & Jeff, two new leaders of the Delaware Valley Chapter so come out and show your support! Please reach out to Jeff if you can give rides or need a ride.

If you’d like to bring a dog, please reach out to Jeff or Alyssa beforehand. We love our furry friends, but dogs must be well-behaved and leashed. Some parts of this trail may be a little narrow/steep for dogs, so please consider this info.

If you are running late or have questions, call or text Jeff at 484-942-6656.

This trip is intended to be a 20s/30s affinity trip. Participation is limited to those who identify with this age group. If you have questions about eligibility or the nature of this trip, please contact the trip leader(s) by email for more information.

Please note: In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or a legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania
