Audience: 20’s & 30’s
Description: Our leaders almost always scout trails a few weeks before they lead an activity to check conditions and look for the unexpected: e.g. an area closed for the hunting season, a collapsed bridge, a road under construction. This pre-check is why our activities almost always run smoothly on the scheduled date.
Not doing anything this July 4th? Why not join us on a 20s/30s scouting trip at Gloucester Park in Sicklerville, NJ? This crazy looking trail - which we fondly call "the intestines" - has more curves and turns than we've ever seen. We're intrigued and want to check it out as a future hike. We've already heard its easy to get lost on the trail, so this may not be a flawless hike. But we should have some laughs as we explore this relatively flat dirt trail with only 300 ft of elevation.
Please dress appropriately for the weather on the day of, bringing layers, a hat, sunscreen, bug repellent, etc. Always wear sturdy shoes, and expect a little mud if it has rained recently. Pack a lunch and snacks and plenty of water (with an emphasis on water). We plan to find a spot along the trail to pull over for lunch.
This is July 4 at a local park, so expect lots of people, picnics and pets. Since nothing says July 4 like an ice cream cone, we are planning a post-hike stop at Jimmie's Scoops and More in nearby Pine Hill, NJ.
