20s/30s Picnic at Ridley Creek State Park

Description: Join the 20s and 30s group as we host our first picnic event at Ridley Creek State Park, a 2,606-acre lush oasis that includes a mix of woodlands, meadows, and a trout-stocked creek.

Our afternoon will include tasty food, lots of games, and 2 pre-picnic hikes: a six-mile and a 3-mile trail for beginner hikers. (Hikes are posted separately, so be sure to look/register for 20s/30s Ridley Creek hikes scheduled for September 13).

Post-hike, AMC will work the grill and offer hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers. Condiments, chips, and a cookie platter are also part of the menu. All you need to bring is your beverage of choice (sorry, but park rules prohibit alcohol), which you can store in our chilled coolers. Of course, if you want to kick in some food - a favorite side dish or dessert – we won’t complain. Just drop us a note in the 20s/30s WhatsApp chat.

After lunch, we’ve lined up some great games, with exciting prizes awarded to winners. We’ll be piping in music, so be sure to suggest your favorite tunes on our WhatsApp chat. We’ll try to make sure your picks are on the playlist.

Parking for the picnic and both hikes is at Pavilion 17. The picnic officially begins at 12:30 pm, so if you only want to attend the picnic, come to Pavilion 17 at 12:30 pm. Hikes have different start times, but start and wrap up at 12:30 pm at Pavilion 17.

Registration for the picnic is required and closes at noon on Saturday, September 12. Sorry, but we need a head count to know how much food to buy. Please let us know if anyone plans to bring along a pup!

The picnic will be held under a large shady pavilion at Ridley Creek State Park, so it is a rain-or-shine event. In the case of severe weather, all registrants will be contacted via email early morning September 13th with the back-up plan.

This event is intended to be a 20s/30s affinity trip. Participation is limited to those who identify as part of this age group. If you have questions about eligibility or the nature of this trip, please contact the trip leader(s) by email for more information.

Please note: To comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or a legal guardian. This policy applies to all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter, as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania.
