Description: Join the 20s/30s for an approximately 6.5-mile (135ft elevation gain) photo walk across Center City Philadelphia inspired by the 20/20 Photo Festival’s Photo Book Fair at Cherry Street Pier.

The 20/20 Photo Festival is a 10-day celebration of photography that brings together the Philadelphia photo community through city-wide exhibitions, educational programming, and a Photo Book Fair on September 12.
The Festival’s Photo Book Fair is open from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM, so feel free to come early to peruse the vendors and explore this year’s submissions on the theme “Transforming Landscapes” to gather inspiration for our walk.

We will meet in front of the Cherry Street Pier building and leave at 5:00 PM. Bathrooms are available inside, so arrive by 4:45 to get settled.
Suggested parking is available 3-4 blocks away at The AutoPark at Olde City or along Front Street between Market Street and Walnut Street. There is limited street parking in front of the Cherry Street Pier.

We will walk from the Pier to Elfreth’s Alley, past the Friendship Arch in Chinatown, and then on to City Hall. There, we will pause to take photos (or use the restrooms at Dilworth Park) for 15-20 minutes before continuing West on JFK Boulevard to the South Street Bridge via the Schuylkill River Trail.

At the South Street Bridge, we will pause again for 30-35 minutes to enjoy the sunset and take long exposure photos of the skyline. Participants can choose to end their walk there or head back with the group to 2nd and Market Street via South Street.
All cameras and lenses–including smartphones–are welcome. Suggested photo gear includes: a tripod and either one 24mm-200mm lens or one 24-70mm lens and a 70-200mm lens.

Please bring at least one bottle of water and pack a snack to enjoy midway, if you wish.

After the hike, folks can hang for dinner or drinks at the Khyber Pass. Rain cancels.

The leader will send a status email by 11:00 PM the night before the walk. All participants will need to agree to and sign a paper AMC legal waiver sheet just prior to the hike if you did not register online in the AMC Outdoor Connector.

This trip is intended to be a 20s/30s affinity trip. Participation is limited to those who identify with this age group. If you have questions about eligibility or the nature of this trip, please contact the trip leader(s) by email for more information.

Please note: In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania.
