Description: Join us on Indigenous Peoples' Day/Columbus Day as we paddle by what is arguably Massachusetts' most beautiful beach. After a 4 nautical mile long stretch along the sandy side facing the open ocean, we'll wrap around in back and take the secret passage through the marshes to make this a circumnavigation. This latter section on the sheltered side is 5 nautical miles making for a total distance of ca. 9 nautical miles (i.e. more than 10 statute miles).
Participants must have a worthy sea kayak with deck lines, spray skirt, PFD, etc. They must be able to sustain a paddling speed of about 3 knots and have experience and warm gear appropriate for a late season paddle with both cooler air and temperatures expected as well as moderately strong (but not severe) currents, wind, and waves.
Very strong wind or thunder will cancel this trip, rain will not.
