Description: Join us for a relaxing, 4.25-mile paddle on the Charles River starting at Moody Street in Waltham, going upstream to the so-called "zoo" (animal statues) and stopping for lunch at Auburndale Park before returning downstream.
If you need to rent a kayak, please arrive early, go to Paddle Boston rental booth, and rent it out before the meeting time. This is a beginner-friendly paddle.
Event Details: Duration: We're shooting for about 4 hours total, with about 3.5 hours paddling and a half-hour lunch/break at Auburndale Park. Water Conditions: Flatwater (we'll paddle out and return to the starting point). We're beginning going upstream and returning going downstream. Boat Options: Single/tandem kayaks and paddle boards. Rental Info: Single Kayak: $57 for one day (includes paddle and lifejacket). Waiver: Must be signed ahead of time – Paddle Boston Waiver . Lifejackets: Required at all times on the water. What to Bring: Clothing: Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet and dirty. Dry Bag: Recommended for electronics and valuables (leaders will have a few, but space is limited). Sun Protection: Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen. Layers: It can be colder and windier on the water than on land. Lunch/snacks: We'll be stopping for lunch, and snacks are good for extra fuel. Additional Info: This event and many others are open to the public so you don't have to be an AMC member.
