Sunday Morning Walk in Van Cortlandt Park

Details
Start your last day of the July 4th Weekend off with an enjoyable and relaxed hike in Van Cortlandt Park, starting at the 242nd Street subway station (last stop on the 1 train).
We'll walk mainly on flatter terrain, and slow down on rocky and hilly sections, with only about 400 feet of elevation gain. Trails will include parts of the Cass Gallagher Nature Trail and John Muir Trail, offering wooded paths, varied terrain, and scenic views. Highlights include the Tortoise & Hare Statue, Van Cortlandt House Museum, and Vault Hill!
Please meet us at the park entrance outside the Public Restrooms just north of the 242nd Street station (Broadway & W 242nd St). Note, there is planned MTA Service on the #1 line, so if you join us from below 137th Street, know that there will be a bus connection between there and 168th, where subway service resumes. Anticipate an extra 30 minutes of travel time.
Bring water, weather-appropriate clothes, sturdy footwear, and a positive attitude! No dogs allowed on this hike.
If weather forces cancellation, we'll post an update at least 2 hours in advance.
