Pelham Bay Park - Siwanoy Trail Hike- (Easy)

We invite you to participate in a 3.5 to 6.5-mile guided hike along the trails adjacent to The Lagoon in Pelham Bay Park, the northernmost section of the park in the Bronx. The designated route includes the Siwanoy Trail and selected sections of the Mosholu-Pelham Greenway, and the grounds of the Bartow-Pell Mansion. Participants are advised to bring lunch or snacks, adequate beverages, and bug spray, and to wear long trousers and long-sleeved shirts to ensure comfort and safety. Restroom facilities are available across from the Bartow-Pell Mansion.

Please be aware that some portions of the trail encompass rugged and minimally maintained sections, and the terrain is predominantly level. For those requiring early departure, regular bus service (Number 45 to Pelham Bay, Bronx) is available at the Pelham Bay and Split Rock Golf Courses on Shore Rd. to return to the train station. That bus, coming from Westchester, currently does not accept OMNI payment.

Public Transportation: Meet at 9:45 AM at Turtle Cove Golf Center. Take the IRT Number 6 subway to its final stop at Pelham Bay Park. You may either walk approximately 1.5 miles or take the Number 29 city bus towards City Island. If taking the bus, disembark after the bus turns right onto City Island Rd. Proceed by crossing the street, turning right onto the trail, and following it for approximately eight minutes until you reach the parking lot at Turtle Cove Golf Center, 1 City Island Ave., Bronx, NY 10464. We recommend reviewing the walking route via Google Maps before your visit to ensure ease of access. Joint with Westchester Hiking Meetup Group.
(Note- If you walk from the subway to the meeting location and back again, you add 3 miles to the hike. Total 6.5 miles)
