Details:
We'll hike south on the AT, bearing right onto the blue-blazed Three Lakes Trail, which we'll follow southbound towards Dennytown Rd, where we'll stop for a brief lunch break. Afterwards, we'll head north on the AT, turning right on a different portion of the Three Lakes Trail and continuing north towards our starting/ending point on Rt 301. Our route will be a figure-8, or perhaps a figure-8 as imagined by Salvador Dali.
Dogs: This is a dog-friendly hike, and we may be joined by Panda, the Australian Sheep Dog who is well-known to area hikers. If you'd like to bring a dog, please contact either Rolande or Hank before Thursday evening.
Public Transportation: The nearest train station is Cold Spring, 7.7 miles away. There is no taxi stand there, and while there is a local taxi company (Ernie's (914) 666-7373) as well as Uber/Lyft drivers nearby, weekday supply and demand is limited, and it is not unusual to wait 20-30 minutes for a pickup. It may be possible to arrange a carpool from a closer-in MetroNorth station, with advance request to hike leaders. Sometimes this works, other times not.
AMC Health Advisory: Covid and other respiratory illnesses are circulating in our communities. Do not participate in this hike if you, or someone who you have recently been in contact with, is either infected or symptomatic.
RSVP for "yes" only, by 7 pm, Thursday, May 21. A pre-hike note, including detailed driving and parking information, will be sent to all signed-up hikers at that time.⁹
