October meeting: Educated

Hi all – Thanks to those who participated in last Saturday’s meeting on Mailman – we had a good conversation about Grant’s funny and poignant memoir, and about the role of postal carriers and other civil servants in U.S. society. For the next meeting, I’d going to assign another memoir that’s been on my to-read list for years: Educated by Tara Westover. The author spent her childhood isolated from mainstream society by isolationist parents and describes how education empowered her to reinvent herself and take control of her life.
