What: AmherstSec is an Amherst based security-focused networking group. We are a group of security minded individuals with the purpose of having open discussion about security related topics. Typically, we have a general theme for an evening to help spur some shared thought. Periodically someone might wish to informally present some work, or new work that is not yet acted on but just thinking about... this is encouraged and supported, but by no means required for this meet up.
This is intended to be very informal and relaxed :-)
When/where: We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at Paragus IT located at 112 Russell St, Hadley, MA.
Why: Similar meetings occur in Boston, but that's a hike from Amherst. Further, with the individuals in the Amherst area, it is worth the while to take time for us to share knowledge and discuss new ideas. We may all work in different sub-fields of Security, but we all have a similar mindset.
We will talk about some of the interesting challenges with Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence + Machine Learning. I will be sharing some of my own research into the field as well as some of these topics of interest:
1. Brief intro to artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts
2. Using AI + ML to watch for threats
3. Why AI + ML applications need to think about secure design
