Title:
Don’t just shift left with AWS cloud security, you might miss something

Abstract:
The shift left paradigm has been widely adopted in the software development industry, encouraging teams to prioritize security early in the software development life cycle (SDLC). However, when it comes to cloud security, relying solely on shifting left can lead to blind spots in spotting and fixing vulnerabilities. In this talk, we will explore the limitations of the shifting left approach in cloud security and discuss the importance of a holistic approach to identifying and mitigating cloud security risks.

Bio:
Meet Alex Farhadi, a Staff Security Engineer with a Purple Team mentality. Unlike the traditional security guy who hands out PDFs without explaining risks or solutions, Alex comes up with practical solutions and works alongside Dev and SRE teams to get things fixed. With over 10 years of experience in fast-paced startup environments, Alex has a CISSP certification and is currently leading cloud, application security, and IT security efforts at a NFT video game company.

Venue and Food:
We are meeting at 6:30 pm (virtually since early 2020) on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Please RSVP so we have an accurate count for pizza. If you are nearby, we prefer you meet with us in person. However, we will publish a Zoom link when the meeting starts so you can attend remotely (please RSVP for the Zoom link).
