With the goal of creating more and more spaces for our community, and the conviction that we achieve more through collaboration as together we are stronger, I have the pleasure to invite you to enjoy a relax afternoon / evening of games, food, drinks, and interesting conversations in Anna Kerk Amstelveen.

Our amazing friends from the Neurodiversity Foundation are organising NeuroCafés for different brains to connect in social and cozy spaces around the country, this time is the turn of Amstelveen, just a few tram stops from Amsterdam.

See you there,

Hugs

José Antonio (Founder and host of the ADHD+ Support Group) &
Tjerk (Director of the Neurodiversity Foundation)

Here the official description:
Neurocafé – an evening to meet others, in your own way

Soon, the 6th large edition of the Neurocafé will take place, this time at a special venue: the Anna Church. For this edition, the Neurocafé will have access to the entire ground floor, creating extra space for meeting others, activities, and different ways of spending time together.

The Neurocafé is for neurodivergent people, their loved ones, and anyone else who is interested. You do not have to perform, explain yourself, or participate in anything. You are welcome to meet people, try an activity, have a conversation, or simply find a quiet place to sit.

During the evening, there will be several tables and small activities. These may include:

- A gaming table;
- A conversation table for meeting and talking with others;
- A creative table;
- and, of course, a “do nothing” table, for anyone who simply wants to sit, observe, or relax.

For this larger edition, members of the community and community organisations will also have the opportunity to host their own tables.

For example, Healthy Here is expected to host a table for neurodivergent parents and parents of neurodivergent children. This will be a space for recognition, questions, and sharing experiences, for both Dutch and international/expat parents.

Team ED is also expected to join with experienced peer experts. Visitors can speak with them about their own experiences and questions. Their project lead, Ineke, can also provide information about Team ED’s free course offerings.

Special Needs Nederland, led by David Chung, is also involved and focuses, among other things, on sports activities for young people with Down syndrome.

We are also exploring several additional tables, including possibly a children’s table and a tasting table.

The exact programme and participating tables may still change.

Who is it for?

The Neurocafé is for a broad neurodivergent community. For example, people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, giftedness, dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome, Down syndrome, or other ways in which a brain may work differently — with or without a formal diagnosis.

Partners, parents, family members, friends, and others who feel connected to the community are also very welcome.

The Neurocafé is not about labels. It is about connection, recognition, curiosity, and the freedom to be present in your own way.

Do you know someone within your organisation, network, municipality, or community who might enjoy or benefit from this? Please feel free to share this invitation with them.

We hope to welcome many different people from the local neurodivergent community to this special edition of the Neurocafé.
