Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "The Wild Pear Tree" is a captivating drama that follows the post-college return of aspiring writer Sinan to his rural hometown, where his literary ambitions clash with his father's debts and the constraints of provincial life. Through stunning Anatolian visuals and rich dialogue, the film delves into themes of disillusionment and the pursuit of artistic dreams. This slow-burn, philosophical exploration offers a profound look at family, ambition, and the complexities of modern Turkey. This film screening is part of the Eye Film Museum’s first exhibition of the work of acclaimed Turkish filmmaker and photographer Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
