Federico Fellini’s “La Strada,” widely considered one of the most important and moving films of all time. The story follows Gelsomina, a gentle soul sold by her impoverished mother to the cruel traveling strongman Zampanò to be his wife and partner. As they wander the post-war Italian countryside, Gelsomina endures his coldness and abuse, yet she clings to a hope that everyone has a purpose. Tensions rise when she finds a kindred spirit in Il Matto, a carefree circus fool, forcing Zampanò to confront his own jealousy and buried feelings. It is a heartbreaking, beautiful journey about the human need for connection.
