Terry Gilliam’s Brazil stands as one of the great dystopian visions of modern cinema, a dreamlike satire that merges Orwellian nightmare with baroque visual invention. Its labyrinth of ducts, paperwork, and malfunctioning fantasies forms a world where bureaucracy becomes both comic opera and existential trap. Jonathan Pryce’s Sam Lowry drifts through this oppressive landscape with the fragile hope of escape, embodying the tension between imagination and control that defines the film. Decades after its release, Brazil remains a fiercely relevant testament to the power of cinematic world-building and the absurdity of systems that promise order while devouring the individual.

The film is in English, with no subtitles.
