Young Frankenstein is Mel Brooks’ hilarious tribute to the classic Universal monster films of the 1930s. Shot in black and white and even using original lab equipment from the 1931 Frankenstein, the film perfectly recreates the atmosphere of old Hollywood horror while turning it into complete comic chaos.
Gene Wilder plays Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, who reluctantly travels to Transylvania after inheriting his family’s castle. Alongside the unforgettable Igor, Inga, and Frau Blücher, he slowly finds himself repeating the experiments he once mocked.
Mixing gothic horror aesthetics, absurd humor, slapstick comedy, and iconic one liners, Young Frankenstein remains one of the greatest comedy films ever made and one of Mel Brooks’ finest works.
