Set in California’s San Fernando Valley during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Boogie Nights follows the rise and fall of a young nightclub dishwasher who becomes one of the biggest stars in the adult film industry. With a huge ensemble cast and nonstop energy, Paul Thomas Anderson turns the story into a sprawling portrait of ambition, fame, excess, and loneliness.
What begins as a glamorous and euphoric ride through disco era Los Angeles slowly reveals the darker side of the industry and the emotional emptiness behind the lifestyle. Balancing comedy, drama, and unforgettable characters, the film became Anderson’s breakout masterpiece and remains one of the defining American films of the 1990s.
This screening is presented in a new 4K restoration.
