La Strada
Gelsomina, a naive and gentle young woman, is sold by her impoverished mother to Zampanò, a brutish travelling strongman who takes her on the road as his assistant. As they journey from town to town performing for small crowds, Gelsomina's innocence and warmth slowly collide with Zampanò's cruelty and emotional distance, drawing her into the orbit of a tender-hearted tightrope walker who sees her for who she truly is.
Directed by Federico Fellini and considered one of his most personal and mythic works, La Strada won the first-ever Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. A haunting, deeply human fable about loneliness, cruelty, and the search for meaning, it remains one of the defining masterpieces of Italian cinema.

The film is in Italian with English subtitles.
