Join us for a special edition of the Amsterdam Language Cafe where we go beyond just talking — and take a real step towards feeling at home in Amsterdam.
This is a pilot event of “The Nexxxt Step”, a new social onboarding experience for internationals and new Amsterdammers.

## ✨ What to expect

This afternoon is all about connection, inspiration and action.
👉 You will:

• Meet new people (not just small talk 😉)
• Discover the story of Amsterdam in a fun and engaging way
• Learn how to actually make friends in the city
• Explore ways to contribute through volunteering
• Leave with a concrete plan to do something new

Because feeling at home doesn’t come from thinking about it…
👉 It comes from doing things with people.

## 🎭 What we’ll do

We’ll start by getting to know each other in a relaxed and honest way — beyond the usual “Where are you from?”
Then, you’ll experience The Story of Amsterdam: a fun and energetic storytelling session by Luuk van der Vaart, combining history, humor and insight into the city you now live in.
After a short break, we shift from inspiration to real life.
Koen (founder of Koentact and the Amsterdam Language Cafe) shares practical and honest insights on:

• why making friends in Amsterdam can be challenging
• where connection actually happens
• and how to take initiative in a natural way

Before we move into action, Brigitte from Serve the City shares how volunteering can be one of the fastest ways to meet people, understand the city and feel at home — even if you’re new.
Then it’s time for The Nexxxt Step.
This is where it gets real.
You will:

• Reflect on what you want more of in your life in Amsterdam
• Turn that into a concrete and realistic plan
• And take that step together with others

During this part, you’ll receive personal guidance from:

• Koen (Koentact) – making friends & social connection
• Luuk van der Vaart – culture, activities & exploring the city
• Brigitte (Serve the City) – volunteering & meaningful ways to contribute

We end the afternoon with food, drinks and informal connection — because this is where things really start.
