Before streaming platforms, before multiplexes, there was Yeşilçam — the heart of Turkish popular cinema.
Named after a modest street in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district, Yeşilçam produced hundreds of films, especially during its golden years. From tearful melodramas and bittersweet romances to sharp social comedies, these films were made for the people, by the people: sometimes rough around the edges, always deeply human, and uniquely Turkish.
For this evening, we’re bringing one of those stories back to the screen.
