FORMAT
This is a UX Lecture, a special series of meetups where academic research and the professional practice meet. From PhD-students to full professors, the academics present their findings and tooling with the professional field.

TALK
From AI that works with doctors to diagnose skin cancer to robots that work hand-in-hand with human employees in manufacturing, humans work more and more together with AI towards shared goals. In these "collaborations", there are various aspects for designers to consider such as which tasks are to be delegated to agents and which are to be retained, what the proper codes of conduct between humans and agents are, how much autonomy would be required under which contexts, how to establish a common ground between humans and agents, among others. In this talk, Nazli Cila will be giving an overview on the current state-of-art on human-agent collaboration and propose 11 design considerations to designers in order to make sure that the agents perform useful and meaningful tasks, and that they are safe, transparent, intelligible, reliable, correctable, and negotiable. In other words, how to design them to work truly in concert with humans.

SPEAKER
Nazli Cila is an Assistant Professor in Human-Agent Collaborations at Delft University of Technology, Department of Human-Centered Design. The primary goal of her research is to generate frameworks and guidelines that could help designers, computer scientists, and policy makers to envision and critically reflect on (new) interactions enabled by AI. Nazli co-directs the AI DeMoS Lab at TU Delft which focuses on the relation between AI and democracy and responsible AI development practices. She studied industrial design and holds a PhD degree in Industrial Design from TU Delft.

HOST
The Smart Media Production department of the University of Applied Sciences is the breeding ground of the new generation of designers. The lecturers organising this meet-up (Joao Loupatty) run the Design and AI Program
