With so many business storytelling techniques out there, SCQA (Situation, Complication, Question and Answer) stands out as one of the most successful. This technique by Barbara Minto has been applied to countless business and consulting presentations.

But what makes it so great at creating so much sense?

Telling stories is always about making sense of our experience of the world. The internet is abundant in examples and materials to learn storytelling on practical levels. So instead, our speaker, Ricardo Pereira, invites us on a more unorthodox journey, zooming in on the matter from another field that is close to his heart – Cinema, and the Hero’s Journey by Christopher Vogler.

We will explore how both methods compare and share fundamental structures, traceable all the way back to old myths. By connecting the dots, we will learn to identify some of their ageless patterns.

Of course, there will be practical examples. Our goal is to become aware of these time-resistant patterns, so next time we can use this knowledge to create and mix our own stories – be it a presentation, a product introduction, a landing page, or even something as simple as an email.

SPEAKER
Ricardo Pereira has come a long way from the cultural sector into the commercial work he does today – he worked in art exhibits, art-house films, multimedia design for real estate press, and digital marketing for corporate lobbying. Currently, Ricardo works at Enviolo as a Digital Specialist, focusing on design, branding, and web UX and development. His work today allows him to continue his multimedia roots while also enjoying solving problems.
