Organizer Ryan
A Canadian who truly loves Japan. He speaks Japanese fluently and knows a lot about Japanese culture. With a gentle personality and teaching experience in Japan, he understands well the concerns Japanese people often have about learning English. Don’t miss the chance to chat with Ryan, a big fan of Japan!

Owner Hiroki
Graduated from Langara College in Canada. Licensed to teach English at junior and senior high school levels in Japan, he spent over 7 years involved in English education. Grateful for the opportunities Meetup has given him, Hiroki started this group to give back.
Currently, he is active internationally as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and works as a software engineer in Vancouver.

Hiroki（オーナー）
カナダのLangara College卒業。中高の英語教員免許を所持し、7年間日本で英語教育に従事。Meetupを通じて多くの恩恵を受け、自身の知識を還元したいと考えこの会を設立。現在は国際的にブラジリアン柔術家として活動しつつ、バンクーバーでソフトウェアエンジニアとしても活躍。

Want to practise English or Japanese, but tired of studying alone? Come hang out with real people in a relaxed, judgement-free space. Whether you’re a beginner or intermediate speaker, you’ll leave with new friends, fresh vocabulary, and a little more confidence.Who This Is For
- Anyone who wants to practise English or Japanese (beginners & intermediate welcome)
- Solo participants — most people come alone, so you’re in good company
- Anyone who wants international friends in Vancouver
- Even if you’re tired and just want to chat casually — you’re welcome
What You Get
- Curated topic cards so you never run out of things to say
- English & Japanese vocabulary lists to take home
- Assigned seating designed to mix people up and spark new connections
- A supportive atmosphere where mistakes are encouraged, not corrected
Event Format
Round 1 — English only (1 hour)
Round 2 — Japanese only (1 hour)
