What we're about

Ananda is a non-denominational center for meditation, spiritual growth and community. All are welcome.

Meditation is a technique for personal growth that has been practiced for thousands of years around the world with repeatable results. It is one of the most natural and rewarding of all human activities. It gives direct, intuitive experience of higher realities, and is the cornerstone of true spirituality. It also brings balance, rest, and a growing inner peace. While its highest and original purpose is to help us awaken our inner, spiritual nature, the benefits to body and mind are well established by medical research and include:

• Reducing tension and stress at will:

• Feel happier, more relaxed, and at peace within

• Improve health, mental clarity, and vitality

• Develop a more intuitive, heart-centered way of life

• Discover and explore your inner spiritual nature

There is no aspect of your life that cannot be improved by meditation, whether it be in business, relationships, health, or developing any personal quality, such as willpower. The highest purpose of meditation, however, is to discover your Highest Self.

Ananda was founded in 1969 by Yogananda’s direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda. Ananda is a global movement based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda who showed how everyone can realize God in their daily lives as a tangible, loving reality. Ananda provides meditation support, spiritual community, and support in the path of self-realization.

“Self-realization means realizing your true Self as the great ocean of Spirit, by breaking the delusion that you are this little ego, this little human body and personality. . . .” -Paramhansa Yogananda

The Light of Superconsciousness: How to Benefit from Emerging Spiritual Trends

Hosted by Nayaswami Narayan & Nayaswami Dharmadevi

We are now at a major turning point in our personal and planetary development. Our values are changing dramatically: many of us are moving away from our previous emphasis on mere worldly gain, toward a new embrace of our own inner spiritual development. The Light of Superconsciousness: How to Benefit from Emerging Spiritual Trends explains the emerging techniques and attitudes that will help ease the transition to a more spiritually nurturing society, and teach us to awaken the seeds of intuition, freedom, and joy that lie dormant within each of us.

This series will meet the second Wednesday of each month for nine months. In this monthly series we will discuss different topics based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, and how to live in our new age of energy. When we have an awareness of our underlying reality as energy, it opens the key to inner freedom, joy, and true fulfillment.

Each satsang will be an experiential evening and will include:
• Chanting to open the heart’s natural love
• Meditation to commune with our Superconscious Self
• Affirmations for Self Healing

Inspirational sharing on a number of different topics including:
• The Cycles of Time–Keys to Planetary Evolution
• Worshipping God as Divine Mother
• A Tribute to Yogananda
• Kriya Yoga–The Universal Science
• The Power of Divine Love
• Hope for a Better World & The Small Community Solution
• A Cosmic Vision of Unity
• Karma, Free Will, and Realization
• The Light of Superconsciousness

This series on the second Wednesday of each month will replace the regularly scheduled Wednesday evening meditation that week.

Stay afterward to enjoy community and light refreshments.

This series is free. Donations are welcomed HERE or at the event.

Nayaswami Narayan & Nayaswami Dharmadevi are disciples of Paramhansa Yogananda. At Swami Kriyananda’s request, they moved to Los Angeles and became the spiritual directors of Ananda LA in 2010. Narayan and Dharmadevi were made Ananda ministers, Lightbearers, and Kriyacharyas by Nayaswami Jyotish & Nayaswami Devi. They are both long-time meditators and Kriyabans, as well as certified Ananda Meditation & Yoga Instructors.
