If you love reading, live in Paris, but don't feel up to discussing the finer points of Proust in French, welcome to an English-speaking book club.
We'll meet once a month to discuss the nominated book and our recent reads. The chosen books might be by a classic French author, or might feature France or Paris heavily within the book, or might be just any other book, proposed and chosen by the group members...
You can choose whether to read them in either English or French: the discussion will always be in English.
Members are welcome to nominate each month's book. The first hour of each meeting will be spent discussing that month's read, and the final half hour is open to discussion of any other books we've read that month, whether you love them or loathe them!
If you want to see what we've read, so far...go to this page :
"...“Normal People,” is set in an exactingly depicted Dublin and West Ireland in the 2010s, ...describes the kinds of all-consuming romantic attachments that have bolstered narratives since Dido and Aeneas, or, O.K., Emma and Mr. Knightley..." this is taken from the NY times and I'm not sure if it's good or bad !!!?
So we will have to read and decide ourselves :)
Enjoy your reading...
