Manga Jam #51: Akira

Akira「アキラ」by Katsuhiro Otomo (大友 克洋 ) is a 6 volume manga that almost needs no introduction as it was made into a famous anime film. Unlike the movie though, this work goes way more in-depth into the gritty world of Neo Tokyo and an alternative "future" where World War 3 already happened. Crazy cults, mass political protests, psychics and all matter of other satire of Japan at the peak of the bubble economy are all par for the course in this epic mind-bending action packed series now available in a beautiful hard covered boxed set (which might make an excellent Christmas gift idea).

NOTE: We are covering the ENTIRE series, all 6 volumes, please take some time to figure out how to obtain all 6 volumes prior to our February meeting.
