Build The Original Gloucester Rocker — a hand-built wooden rocking boat
designed by Buckley Smith in 1983 (WoodenBoat Plan 490-007), built by
you, this season, at Makerspace of Annapolis. Built under license from
WoodenBoat Publications, Inc.
No experience required. 3 builders per cohort. 4 guided sessions, ~10
hours total, start to finish.
WHAT YOU'LL DO, SESSION BY SESSION
01. Mount & Assemble — Fit the stem, seat, and transom to the shop
jig; glue and screw the hull sides in place; sand and assemble
the rocker assembly.
02. Bend the Hull — Bend the sides by hand around the jig and glue
them to the transom.
03. Fit & Trim — Remove the hull from the jig, hand-fit the rails
and inner chine, shape the handle.
04. Final Fit & Finish — Mate the hull to the rocker assembly, sand
smooth, take it home ready for paint.
SCHEDULE — Weekday Daytime Cohort, Mon–Thu, Sept 14–17, 1:00 PM start
each day:
S1 Mon, Sept 14 — ~4 hrs
S2 Tue, Sept 15 — ~1–2 hrs
S3 Wed, Sept 16 — ~2 hrs
S4 Thu, Sept 17 — ~3–4 hrs
