Dungeon and Dragons: The Hero in Us

Note: This event is a duplicate of the 2nd Saturday D and D game. However, the Saturday game was removed and replaced with this SUNDAY game. This change in the schedule was needed because game stores have become very popular locations for card game events which require lots of space. There is no longer adequate room for RPGs using multiple tables at game stores on Saturday. Tables on Sundays are much more available, so the change to Sunday has been made. I am sorry if this change is a challenge for your schedule.

Each session is a one shot that starts and ends at one event. The stories all involve some problem solving, and fighting. Characters do not advance they are always at 5th level. The stories and conditions around the story do vary from month to month. Check out this DnD song and smile.

We have 2 to 3 DM's and so up to 3 tables running at each event. The game system uses 5th level characters now with the 2024/5.5 version. You can bring a version 5 character, but note that they are not as powerful as the new 2024/5.5 characters. You can also use my pre-gen 2024 characters.

We have pre-gen characters, maps, props, dice, everything needed for all games. You may make a Std 5.5 (2024) character of 5th level using online D&D Beyond. Please use 27 point buy, Std HP and no evil characters.

This month one of the DM's, Eric, will be running a version of D&D called Shadowdark. I looked over the rules and it is a cross between 3.5 and 5e. The game is a much simplified version of D&D. Below is what Eric wrote for the Meetup. Check out the link for the rules and character creation.

****** Shadowdark is a dark fantasy TTRPG based in Old School Renaissance principles and focused on danger and dungeon crawling. I will run a level 0-1 gauntlet to introduce the players to a new region where they will drive the exploration. I will provide pregen characters and character sheets as well as basic rules references for anyone new to Shadowdark RPG."

Plan on a break to eat. Feel free to bring your own food and drink. The store does sell drinks and snacks. We will order regular pizza from Jet's. The cost for the pizza will be $8 a person. You may go to other stores to get food. Please bring cash. These details could change, so check this posting for updates. Feel free to email me with questions.

The cost of the Meetup site has risen to almost $400 a year and RU game store is charging us per table. I have covered this cost in the past, but am now looking for help in the form of donations. I feel $5 would be helpful and appreciated. You can give at the 2nd Sunday Meetup game.

The purpose of the 2nd Sunday Meetup is to bring together experienced players with people new to, or rejoining the RPG world. The games are short one time adventures. No experience is necessary.
