Stress is eating you up? Can't stop overthinking? And when you finally want to get some rest after a hard day at work, you can't sleep? Prolonged stress can seriously affect your health, even contributing to burnout.

The good news, there are many ways to reduce stress and keep it at a reasonable level. Somatic exercises help you regulate your nervous system, calm your body down, and release built-up tension.

The exercises are part of a body psychotherapy method created by doctor and therapist Alexander Lowen in the 1950s. We are guided by one key concept: our feelings are reflected in our bodies. And our bodies have the power to regulate our emotions and heal the mind.

Remember the last time you were extremely stressed? Chances are high you experienced it on a physical level. Sensations such as:

  • Faster heartbeat
  • Headache
  • Tense shoulders
  • The feeling of something sitting in your throat
  • Stomach pains or nausea
  • A sense of having soft and weak legs

These are just some of the examples of how our bodies react to stress.
Research shows that chronic stress can have a negative impact on our heart, immune and digestive systems, hormones, and memory, to name but a few. According to a review of various studies body psychotherapy approaches may bring about the reduction in people’s psychological distress.
This workshop will give you easy tools to use when your stress levels rise. Deepening the practice at home will help you build stress resilience in the long run. The workshop will be especially useful for people who experience work-related stress but anyone can benefit from the practice.
What you'll learn and try out:

  • You'll understand your own stress response better.
  • You'll pay more attention to early stress signs and will be able to react before stress hits you hard.
  • You'll try simple exercises to manage stress tension on the go, even during a coffee break at work, not just sitting on a meditation pillow in a quiet spa!

You'll gain the tools to build your lifelong stress resilience. We’ll cover the most common body symptoms and experiment with relevant somatic (bioenergetic) exercises for stress.
The workshop is open to participants of all genders.

Your Facilitator
