Moon House and McCloyd Canyon - Bears Ears, Utah Hike

Details

Moon House is a Pueblo III dwelling in McCloyd Canyon. Plan's to explore the main ruin complex, and then hike around other parts of the canyon to see what else is there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_House

Permits are required and are available from the BLM (they limit access to 20 people per day, as of this posting there are 7 spaces remaining). https://www.recreation.gov/permits/4251914

You're responsible for your own permit/ checking in with the BLM. I'm not a tour guide, just a guy that likes to go into the canyons. The road to the trailhead was passable in a Forester last year, with minor scraping.

I don't like using terms such as easy or difficult when describing hikes. There's some non technical scrambling and a ledge that stops some people getting down the main trail (photo in the above handout link). I'm not sure what we'll find in the canyon beyond the main complex, a partial kiva and small cliff dwelling that I've been to before. My rock climbing skills are weak so we'll stick to not exposed scrambling. Talk to me at an event if interested and we can plan some hikes together to make sure we're all on the same page.

Sunrise will be 7:12am, Sunset 7:03pm.

Hike's not suitable for pets or children.
