Beginner Pine Needle Basket Making - Majestic View Nature Center ($10)

In this class we’ll learn how to turn a bundle of pine needles into a strong and aromatic basket. In other classes we’ll learn more advanced techniques and ornate patterns, including how to weave with other materials.

Basket making is a passive and meditative process, like knitting or crochet. It’s easy, too. Once you have the skills, all you need is a sewing needle and thread, a “gage”, and some fresh pine needles. From there you can weave anywhere, whether you’re at home watching a movie, or sitting in the piney mountains.
