What we're about

Who are we? We're a group of people from all over NE IL/ SE WI who love to write. Our members come from all backgrounds, representing every stage of the writing process, from beginner to full-time writer. There are no limits on genre. Our members span the board, bringing in non-fiction, fiction, blogs, poems, essays, concept outlines, and so on. Meetings generally consist of members reading pieces they've written (1500 words). They are then critiqued by the rest of the group. We strive to offer helpful tips for improving the author's work and skill as a writer. Sometimes we hold special events, including guest speakers and themed writing projects.

If you'd like to submit a piece to read, please email Todd at twilliams@apld.info and attach your piece as either PDF or .doc/.docx by 1pm the Monday prior to meeting. Any submissions after that may not be printed in time.

Are you a writer? Do you have a short story, poetry, or even a whole novel inside you that is just dying to get out? For those who endeavor to create the perfect sentence, plot, character or world building, input from a writer’s group can be particularly advantageous. In addition to creating a community of support and encouragement, a writer’s group also provides the necessary critiquing of each other’s work that is essential to honing your writing skills.

Join us on the third Tuesday of each month, as we inspire and motivate each other to create our best work.

Please go to https://apld.libcal.com/event/7936224?hs=a to register. Currently, the meetings will be held virtually, via zoom and will meet in person at the Antioch Public Library as soon as we are able.

Members are encouraged to keep sharing to 1500 words each.
Please contact Kat at [masked] if you have any further questions.
