Have you ever noticed that anxiety can seem to take over before you’ve consciously decided to do anything?
A thought appears. You check something. Look for reassurance. Replay what happened. Try to make certain nothing is wrong.
You feel better for a moment.
Then the loop starts again.
In this live Meetup, we’ll look closely at two important parts of the Seven Layers of Anxiety:
The Autopilot — Layer 3
How checking, reassurance, avoidance, and other learned responses can bring short-term relief while making the pattern more likely to repeat.
The Forecaster — Layer 4
How the mind begins predicting, rehearsing, and trying to solve possible future threats before they have even happened.
The important question isn’t simply:
“How do I stop feeling anxious?”
It’s:
“Where is the loop being reinforced — and what would be a better response to practice?”
We’ll walk through how these layers can interact, how to recognize the sequence earlier, and why understanding the pattern is only the beginning.
Because knowing why you do something does not automatically give your system a new response.
That part takes practice.
I’ll finish the session with a short guided exercise you can use to begin interrupting the loop differently.
If you’ve ever thought, “I know what I’m doing, so why do I keep doing it?” this Meetup is for you.
