Details
Join us for an exciting pre-summer event, where we'll look at an interesting production use-case at scale, and learn about the all new Flink 2.0! 🚀 🍻
Graciously hosted by LinkedIn Israel.
Agenda
5:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Arrival, Networking, Pizza & Beers
6:00 PM - 6:30 PM: The Cloud-Native Evolution of Flink 2.0: What’s New, What’s Gone, and Why It Matters
Asaf Halili, Staff Software Engineer @ LinkedIn
Apache Flink 2.0 brings a cloud-native design that redefines how we build scalable, real-time data applications. This talk unpacks the key changes: from disaggregated state and stateless compute to Kubernetes-native deployments and materialized tables. We’ll also cover what’s been removed and why. Whether you're already using Flink or considering adoption, you’ll leave with a clear understanding of how to align your architecture with Flink’s next-generation design.
Asaf is an experienced software engineer and tech lead with over a decade of experience designing, developing, and optimizing large-scale applications. His passion lies in building scalable, high-performance systems and architecting solutions for complex challenges.
6:30 PM - 7:00 PM: Unlocking Self-Serve Streaming SQL with Apache Flink
Gal Krispel, Data Platform Engineer @ Riskified
Streaming technologies often offer a High-Level SQL API for submitting streaming jobs, but they still require hands-on expertise to submit them. In this talk, we’ll explore how to build a fully self-serve abstraction over Apache Flink’s TableAPI (SQL), that empowers end users to focus solely on writing SQL. We’ll walk through how to enable static SQL query validation with no Flink runtime, job deployment, and provide monitoring dashboards and alerts out-of-the-box.
Gal is a Data Platform Engineer at Riskified with 8 years of experience in Software Engineering, including roles at Fiverr and Check Point. He’s passionate about streaming technologies like Kafka, Flink, and Spark, as well as distributed systems. Gal focuses on turning complex data pipelines into intuitive, self-serve platform interfaces, empowering development teams and democratizing data across the organization.
7:00 PM - 7:15 PM: Networking, Wrap-up
