About us
IMPORTANT: We have retired the separate AMC Worcester Third Wednesday Meetup group. At this point it does not make sense to maintain 2 distinct Meetup groups, so if you are not already a part of our main AMC Worcester Meetup group, please join here now. All future Third Wednesday events will be posted here.
The Appalachian Mountain Club is America's oldest conservation and recreation organization. The AMC promotes the protection, enjoyment and stewardship of the mountains, forests, waters and trails of the Appalachian region. The mission of AMC Worcester is to encourage people to enjoy and appreciate the natural world because we believe that successful conservation depends on this experience.

East Bay Bike Path
Location not specified yetThe East Bay Bike Path is a popular 28 mile round-trip paved rail-trail in Rhode Island, running along the Narragansett Bay coastline from Providence to Bristol. Before it became a recreational path, it was a railroad that connected Providence, Warren and Bristol in Rhode Island in 1854. Due to the growing automobile ownership, there was a steady decline for train service to oceanside towns and most of the line south of East Providence was abandoned in 1976 and all remaining freight train operations ceased in 2006. In the 1980s, the railway was converted into the East Bay Bike Path.
The mostly flat, multi-use path connects several communities and offers scenic water views, passing through woodlands and coastal marshes. The ride offers easy access to downtown Bristol where we can eat our lunches on a bench at Independence Park while enjoying the beautiful views of Bristol Harbor.
The event will be longer, as it is a relaxed pace of 10-12 mph so we can enjoy the scenery with the opportunity to have lunch in town and explore the historic town by foot before we head back the same way to our starting point.
All participants must register for this event and no drop-ins.
