WILD EDIBLES: NIBBLING ON THE WILD LANDSCAPE

Worcester County is home to over 80 species of edible wild plants, some of which are more nutritious and/or flavorful than their cultivated counterparts. These include native species, like Elderberry and Milkweed; non-native species, like Burdock and Chicory; and invasive species, like Autumn Olive and Japanese Knotweed. Wild food enthusiast Russ Cohen, author of the book "Wild Plants I Have Known…and Eaten", will give us a presentation about dozens of the tastiest species the Worcester region has to offer, ranging from species everyone knows well, like Daisies and Dandelions, to species folks may have never heard of, like Calamus and Carrion Flower. Russ' talk will also include a dozen of the tastiest and easy-to-identify wild mushroom species. Russ will bring handouts and samples of goodies made from wild foraged ingredients for people to sip and nibble on.

Location: Northboro Historical Society, 52 Main St. (Rt.20). Doors open at 6:30. Dinner at 7:00. Speaker shortly after. Bring a dish to share - appetizer, entree, dessert, or beverage.
