Description: Join us as for the 2nd Womens+ weekend of hiking and fun with the Shapleigh bunk house at the Highland Center as our home base.
Plan to arrive Friday evening to check in, have dinner, and socialize with the group. On Saturday morning we will enjoy breakfast together at the Highland Center.
Hikes will be planned for Saturday and Sunday morning, with a possible option on Friday afternoon. We will hike as a group and maintain the pace of the slowest hiker in the group.
2 levels of hikes will be offered: Moderate - Vigorous. 4-6 miles, slower - moderate pace. Think: 52 with a View Vigorous - Strenuous. 7+ miles, moderate - moderate+ pace. Think: 4000 footer We will use the screening process to determine which hike level is appropriate for each participant.
In the evening on Saturday, we will again enjoy a Highland Center dinner and hang out at the lodge or bunkhouse. Sunday morning, after a Highland Center group breakfast, we will do shorter hikes. Everyone will head home in the afternoon.
We will be staying in bunk rooms with shared bathrooms. Although we have reserved the full bunkhouse, if the trip does not fill, there may be other people in the bunk house with us, of any gender.
Information on how to reserve and pay for your bunk at the lodge will be sent to confirmed participants.
Costs for the bunkhouse and included meals: Approximately $166 for AMC Members and $200 for non-Members. Includes 2 nights lodging, 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts.
Refund info: Please review the AMC’s refund policy and make sure you fully understand it before you reserve your spot.
Meeting time and place: AMC Highland Center/Shapleigh bunkhouse , Friday evening. Gear Requirements: · The 10 essentials · At least 2 liters of water each day for the hikes · Trail Lunches and snacks
Weather and Contingency Plans: This trip will run rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe (e.g., severe weather). In the event of dangerous conditions, the trip to the bunkhouse will still happen but the hikes may be altered or cancelled.
