Description: Two day backpack in the Zealand/Ethan Pond areas of the White Mountains. We will hike at a slow to moderate pace on this 10 mile, 1170 ft elevation change trip. Along the way, enjoy beaver ponds, Zealand Pond, Zealand hut, waterfalls, a traverse through Zealand Notch, and beautiful Ethan Pond. We will have an extended break at Thoreau Falls before getting to our camp. Day 1 is 7.3 miles with about 1050 ft of elevation change, camping at AMCs Ethan Pond campsite. Day 2 is 3.3 miles with 509 ft of elevation (mostly downhill) with a possible side hike to Ripley Falls. If we decide to stealth camp before Ethan Pond, day 1 mileage will be shorter and day 2 a bit longer. Participants of the Worcester Chapter's Backpacking Workshop have preference on the trip as well as recent past participants of the workshop. Others are welcome to register but will be wait listed until about 3 weeks prior where they will moved up to the hike as room allows. Gear List
